SMS Opt-In & Consent

Last updated June 25, 2026

This page describes how people consent to Ocrila Restaurant Notifications, the transactional SMS program through which a restaurant’s callers and staff receive text messages tied to a phone order or reservation. It is published so the opt-in and consent experience can be reviewed without logging in. It should be read together with our SMS Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.

The messaging program

Ocrila operates an AI phone-answering service for restaurants. The SMS messages it sends are strictly transactional and tied to a specific phone call:

  • To callers: when a customer places an order or books a reservation on the restaurant’s Ocrila phone line, we may text them a secure card-payment link for that order and/or a confirmation of their order or reservation.
  • To staff: the restaurant’s own staff may receive operational alerts about those same new orders and reservations so they can prepare and follow up.

We never send marketing or promotional content through this program.

How callers opt in (verbal consent on the call)

A caller opts in verbally, during the phone call. Before any text is sent, the AI host asks the caller’s permission to text the mobile number they are calling from and discloses that rates may apply. The text is sent only after the caller agrees. The host says, in substance:

“I can text a secure link to pay by card, and a confirmation, to the mobile you’re calling from. You’ll get a text and message and data rates may apply — is that okay?”

For a reservation: “What’s the best mobile number to text your confirmation to? Message and data rates may apply.”

If the caller declines, no text is sent and they can pay or confirm another way. We text only the number the caller provides on the call, for that order or reservation; numbers are never purchased, rented, or sourced from third-party lists.

How staff opt in

A restaurant’s staff opt in during onboarding: before a staff member’s mobile number is enrolled for operational alerts, that staff member agrees, verbally, to receive them. A staff member who has not agreed is never enrolled, and any number can be removed at any time.

Message frequency and rates

This is transactional messaging tied to a specific order or reservation, so frequency varies with the caller’s own activity and the restaurant’s order and reservation volume. Message and data rates may apply.

How to opt out or get help

You can stop receiving messages at any time by replying STOP to any message; a single confirmation is sent and no further messages follow. Replying HELP, or emailing emmet@ocrila.com, returns support information.

Privacy
